National Register of Historic Places for Shreveport, Louisiana

 

Shreveport, Louisiana resides inside Caddo Parish. The Shreve Town Company founded the city during 1836.

 

Although access to the Red River is attributed to Henry Shreve, the Caddo Indians were the first to live here.

 

The 1887 waterworks is utilizable today.

 

1944 marked the beginnings of Barksdale Air Force Base; this base sent B-52 bombers into Operation Enduring Freedom and Operation Iraqi Freedom.

 

Shreveport, Louisiana celebrates the Louisiana State Fair, Red River Revel, Mudbug Madness, Jazz & Gumbo Festival, Mainstay Independence Bowl, Great Adventure Race, Cinco de Mayo Fiesta, Artbreak Festival, Rockets over the Red-Fireworks and Holiday in Dixie.
