I have written before that there are great cities that enjoy the charm of the South, the scenery and the cuisine. I am I go to one of Louisiana's most underrated cities to rejoice at how amazing it is, but I write about a small town that is worth visiting.

Louisiana's other side is dotted with countless lakes, bayoos and rivers that give visitors the chance to see the natural side of Shreveport. Other areas of the city that offer a variety of recreational activities include the John D. and Catherine T. Dixon National Wildlife Refuge, the Mississippi River and Louisiana State Park. Top attractions include the University of Louisiana at Lafayette, the Louisiana Museum of Natural History, LSU College of Agriculture and Natural Resources, Lake Pontchartrain and Louisiana's National Historic Landmark Museum.

Among the fun family activities in Shreveport is a scenic one-hour riverboat ride, which can be a great way to enjoy the tranquil beauty or spend part of the day on historic Red River Cross Bayou. While there, you can also visit the Railway Museum of Shreveport and learn about the importance of railways in Sh Reveport in the last century. Completed in 1939, the museum houses a collection of artefacts and artifacts from the early days of the city's railways. This museum, owned and run by the Shreveports Committee of Colonial Dames of Louisiana, also features an exhibition on the history of gambling in Bossier City (not to mention the games of chance!).
